Cricket is a sport played between a bat and bowl in a team consists of 11 players. The first game registered was in southern England in the 16th century. By the end of the 18th century, cricket became the national sport of England. The popularity and expansion of the England team led to cricket being played overseas and by the mid-19th century the first international matches were being held. Today, the cricket governing body, the International cricket council (ICC), has now over 100 member countries. With its greatest popularity in the Test playing countries, cricket is now the world's second most popular sport after FIFA Association.
